JANUARY 2010 HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dear Pastor and Co-laborers

WOW! It is hard to believe another year has come and gone and the Lord has not come, but we are still here and trying to do His will. We trust the LORD is blessing you and your families already in this brand new year and will continue to do so the rest of this year. We have a clean slate to do more for him and please Him with our lives.

In two weeks, we will back in Brazil preaching the 25th Anniversary of the first church that we started in Franca, Sao Paulo. Please pray God will use us to help the church and also the other churches we will be preaching in while we are there. They have done a lot of work on the building and we are anxious to see the reforms that were done. We will post some pictures as soon as we have some. Please pray for the expenses of the trip.

For 32 plus years we have been members of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina. Last year we began to pray and felt that God has lead us to join Mountain View Baptist Church in Cowpens, South Carolina where Rev. Steve Griffith is the pastor. He is our brother-in-law and a great man of God. We have done much praying and meditating on the change as I personally hate changes. We talked with Rev. Stacy Shiflett at PVBC and all is well. We ask you to pray for us and we trust this will be understood as the will of God for our lives. We wish the best for Rev. Shiflett and the people of PVBC and we have nothing against them. You are welcome to call either Pastor and confirm our statement on this behalf.

Thank you for your support this past year of 2009 and we are hoping and trusting to be a part of your ministry forever. Thank you for the Christmas love offerings and the cards you sent our way. We always enjoy the encouraging words you send. We love you and try to pray for you - our supporters each and every day. We are available for meetings starting in March of this year as we will be in Brazil for about 4 weeks.

For a closing note, our health is improving slowly with the medicine and rest. Please continue to pray for me and Cathy, that God will continue to touch us and fill us with His Spirit. Also, pray for both our parents. My mother is in the hospital at the writing of this letter and my dad is still having some serious problems. Cathy's parents have cancer, so please pray for them.

We love you all.

In His Service,
Dr. Robert L. Smith and Cathy
